lunar-infrastructure (scenario kind)
Scenario kind of the engine v0.38.0, family Lunar and cislunar. Advisory: analysis output from a research and engineering tool, not type-approved navigation equipment and not a safety-of-life service. Every label here is the engine's or the verification matrix's; a kind is MODELLED unless the matrix says otherwise (how a label is earned: the README's Evidence section).
What it does#
MODELLED studies of the Moon's orbit and surface as navigation and geodetic infrastructure, five studies behind one kind selected by study: od-consistency (onboard Earth-GNSS orbit determination in an NRHO or ELFO against independent ground radiometric orbit determination, judged by their own covariances over a seeded Monte Carlo), carrier-phase (joint surface-orbiter double-differenced carrier phase and integer ambiguity resolution with LAMBDA), frame-coestimation (a surface station and orbiters added to Earth-station ranging for the seven-parameter lunar frame datum), space-tie (GNSS, VLBI and laser ranging on one spacecraft, frame-tie precision against the local-tie error) and geodesy-sensitivity (Fisher information of the lunar Love numbers h2, k2, l2 and the physical libration from laser ranging, orbiter tracking, a surface gravimeter and a surface clock). A restricted three-body model with stated simplifications; the numerics are checked against independent programs and nothing is compared with a measurement of a lunar quantity.
One run of scenarios/lunar-infrastructure-space-tie.toml summarises as: lunar-infrastructure space-tie: 4 sweep points on 1 arcs; laser-vs-GNSS x translation sigma 1.0363 m at the registered local tie

Result label (the engine's): MODELLED — a restricted three-body model (Earth and Moon point masses, no Sun, no lunar gravity harmonics) with stated simplifications and ILLUSTRATIVE inputs labelled with their public sources. no plot: the example writes no chart
Evidence#
No matrix row names this kind by name; the label on its result is the engine's own, above.
The rows the run itself exercised, with the oracle the matrix gives each (the public sources are named there):
- MODELLED Deterministic, scenario-hashed, SBOM + cross-platform golden gates. Oracle (ExternalDataset): SBOM conformance to the official CycloneDX 1.5 JSON Schema (+ valid SPDX identifiers) — an external published standard, zero validation errors over the full dependency graph; the FoM-determinism / byte-reproducibility part remains a pinned self-consistency check, so the row stays MODELLED
- MODELLED Orbit determination in a near-rectilinear halo orbit (or an elliptical frozen orbit) from two independent data types: Earth-GNSS pseudoranges received on board . Oracle (ReferenceImpl): An independent scipy/numpy program integrates the same variational equations (bar O1). Nothing is compared with a measurement of a lunar orbit. The oracle checks the numerics of stated formulas, not the physics, so the row stays MODELLED. Restricted three-body model: no Sun, no lunar harmonics, the Earth rotation axis along the orbit normal, ILLUSTRATIVE receiver and station inputs.
- MODELLED Between-receiver single-differenced Earth-GNSS carrier phase and code at a lunar surface station and an orbiter, with the per-epoch clock difference profiled ou. Oracle (ReferenceImpl): An independent numpy solve of the same normal equations from the exported rows (Q3) and a brute-force integer enumeration (Q4). No GNSS or lunar carrier-phase measurement is compared with. MODELLED.
- MODELLED Fisher information of the seven-parameter lunar frame datum from Earth-station laser ranging to the five reflectors alone and with orbiter-to-surface-station ra. Oracle (ReferenceImpl): An independent numpy finite difference of the forward model (F2). Nothing is compared with real lunar frame solutions. The factor is conditional on the assumed known orbit and the 1 m range sigma. MODELLED.
- MODELLED Cramer-Rao precision of the inter-technique translation, scale and rotation offsets between GNSS, VLBI and laser-ranging frames when one spacecraft carries all . Oracle (ReferenceImpl): An independent numpy stacked system with the position unknowns eliminated by explicit Schur complements (T3). No GRASP, Genesis or other mission data are compared with. MODELLED.
Limitations#
What the run's own report says is not modelled or not validated:
- MODELLED — a restricted three-body model (Earth and Moon point masses, no Sun, no lunar gravity harmonics) with stated simplifications and ILLUSTRATIVE inputs labelled with their public sources. Numerics are checked against independent programs; nothing is compared with a measurement of a lunar quantity, and nothing here is a statement about any mission or system. Not affiliated with or endorsed by any agency. Adviso (result

MODELLED; the design, inputs and bars are fixed in xval/lunar-infra/PREREGISTRATION.md (committed before any run). ILLUSTRATIVE inputs are labelled with their public sources there. (scenario file comment, lines 1 to 3)
- Reproducibility & software assurance is MODELLED, not validated: a sub-claim is externally checked, but the whole capability composes modelled pieces, so the capability stays Modelled. (verification matrix (docs/MODELLED-RATIONALE.md))
- Lunar orbit determination: Earth-GNSS against ground radiometric is MODELLED, not validated: checked against a separate implementation in this same codebase — independent of the unit under test, but not externally authoritative. (verification matrix (docs/MODELLED-RATIONALE.md))
- Lunar carrier-phase ambiguity resolution: surface and orbiter is MODELLED, not validated: checked against a separate implementation in this same codebase — independent of the unit under test, but not externally authoritative. (verification matrix (docs/MODELLED-RATIONALE.md))
- Lunar frame co-estimation: surface stations and orbiters is MODELLED, not validated: checked against a separate implementation in this same codebase — independent of the unit under test, but not externally authoritative. (verification matrix (docs/MODELLED-RATIONALE.md))
- Space-tie frame-tie precision: co-located GNSS, VLBI and laser ranging is MODELLED, not validated: checked against a separate implementation in this same codebase — independent of the unit under test, but not externally authoritative. (verification matrix (docs/MODELLED-RATIONALE.md))
